I just learned that I have a cavity, but hate those ugly silver fillings. Do you still use those?
White resins are used for sealing smaller cavities and areas of tooth decay. When damage to the tooth is more extensive, inlay or onlay materials may be used to provide the most strength and durability to the restored tooth. Silver amalgam filling materials are still used in special circumstances, but for aesthetic, health and environmental reasons we prefer to repair and restore teeth using white filling material whenever possible.
What can I expect to happen during a routine dental check-up?
The Hunt Club Dental Centre is your partner in helping you to maintain a happy and healthy smile for life. We encourage routine check-ups at regular intervals so that we can catch problems with your teeth and gums before they arise. Please visit our basic cleaning page on what you can expect during your visit, or for more information on the importance of dental check-ups visit the Canadian Dental Association website.
I just read that your oral health actually has an impact on your overall health and wellness ...is that true?
Yes, it is! Many studies now show that gum disease can have an impact on other serious medical conditions like heart disease. For more information on the related effects of gum disease, we encourage you to visit Health Canada's website.
I just received my dental insurance claim cheque and found that the amount the insurance company paid me was different from what you charged. Why is that?
All dental insurance plans are different depending on where you work and what procedures are covered. The Hunt Club Dental Centre's rates are based on the current Ontario Dental Association fee guide. Check with your insurance provider to see what deductibles and coinsurance levels exist on your plan and what fee guide is being used to assess your claim. We recommend a predetermination of benefits is completed before commencing any costly dental work.
